Supporting Grassroots Interventions

Build capacity of case workers, constables, front-line workers. Support solutions from the grassroots with unrestricted, long-term funding.

Building Capacity and Legal Services

Mobilizing lawyers as a cohort. Legal services provision. Fellowship for women lawyers at district level. Strengthening paralegal volunteers.

Engaging Men and Boys

Making men part of the conversation. Multiple platform engagement. Counselling and mental health programs for men and boys.

Bystander Interventions

Government-encouraged intervention and rewards. Promoting do-able action ideas through social media campaigns. Include friends, colleagues, family.

Training Service Providers

Training transport and delivery workers on bystander intervention. Involving vendors, bus conductors, auto drivers. Leveraging their networks.

GBV Solve: Open Funding Call


Through GBV Solve, created with J-PAL South Asia, we invited people across India to share their best ideas.

The response was overwhelming: 460 applications from NGOs, researchers, tech innovators, and grassroots groups. Ideas ranged from school-based programs to digital safety solutions to community-led support networks.

Six organisations were selected for support with a total funding commitment of up to ₹5 crores.

Reshaping Gender Attitudes

School-based program by NGO Breakthrough proven effective in promoting gender equal views. Reaching 800,000 students across government schools in Punjab and Odisha.

Police Reform for Violence Against Women

Program effective in increasing case registration. Developed with Madhya Pradesh Police. Scaled-up to 999 police stations across the state.

Sexual Harassment Training

Training program by NGO Safecity proven effective in reducing harassment. Evaluation in Delhi University colleges targeting 5,405 participants.
