Evidence Hub
Data and research driving our work to end gender-based violence.
● The Data Gap
The data gap is real. That's why we surveyed 4,000 women to build evidence that drives change.
National surveys don't collect data on violence outside the home. Other survey estimates are a decade old. Harassment in public spaces and workplaces is widely underreported. There's limited understanding of what solutions actually work.

● Key Research Findings
Our three-city survey in Delhi, Jaipur, and Bengaluru mapped how women experience safety and reporting in public spaces.
67%
of women in Delhi experienced harassment last year
50%
of women in Jaipur experienced harassment last year
95%
of women anxious about harassment when leaving home
1%
of women reported incidents to police (<1%)[/vc_custom_heading][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row override_padding="yes" h_padding="2" top_padding="4" bottom_padding="6" equal_height="yes" gutter_size="4" uncode_shortcode_id="541382"][vc_column shift_y_down="0" width="1/3" uncode_shortcode_id="474508"][vc_custom_heading text_font="font-161747" text_size="h5" text_weight="500" text_space="fontspace-111509" badge_style="yes" uncode_shortcode_id="645991" text_color_type="uncode-solid" text_color_solid="#0c4f48" back_color_solid="#e7f0e7"]● Where It Happens
70%
on roadsides
50%
in public transport
42%
waiting for transport
Women experience harassment on the streets, in buses, in shops, at hospitals, colleges, and places of worship. Most sexual harassment occurs during daytime, not at night as commonly assumed.
● The Hidden Cost

Women make trade-offs for safety every day.
• Choose a college 8.8% lower in quality for additional safety
• Travel 27 extra minutes daily (40% more than their daily travel time)
• Spend INR 17,500 more per year on safer routes
• The risk of harassment affects decisions about whether to work and where
● Expert Roundtables
We've held expert roundtables with researchers and practitioners to identify key themes and solutions.
Addressing Online Gender-Based Violence
Challenges due to anonymity and ambiguity in defining “online public spaces.” Need for collaboration with tech companies.
Legal and Legislative Interventions
Current frameworks compartmentalize different forms of violence. Need for unified laws and expanded legal services.
Mental Health Support
Need to integrate mental health into GBV response. Access to counseling for survivors and mental health programs for men and boys.
