Building a Safer India for Women
A not-for-profit working to prevent sexual harassment through evidence, empathy, and action.
● Our Mission
Aparajita began from a simple question: why does to understand why gender-based violence continues to shape how so many women live, work, and move each day.
We listen, learn, and work with people who are trying to make things better in small, steady ways. We fund new ideas, support on-ground pilots, build evidence, and help others use what's been learned.

● Our Founder

Founded by Pramod Bhasin
Founder and former CEO of Genpact, and Chairperson of ICRIER. Aparajita is a not-for-profit created solely to further programming and solutions focused on the prevention of sexual harassment.
"The struggle against sexual violence is not just a women's issue; it's a fight for human rights and equality in the true sense."
● Our Partnership
Supported by J-PAL South Asia Gender and Policy Team
Aparajita and J-PAL South Asia have come together with two goals: bridge the data gap on prevalence of sexual harassment outside the home, and solve this massive problem through evidence-based solutions.
J-PAL connects research to action through research, policy outreach and scale-ups, and capacity building.

● Our Approach
We work at the intersection of root causes, law and justice, and safety in workplaces, public places, and educational institutions.
Broader Definition of GBV
GBV exists on a continuum across public, private, workplace, and digital settings. We include forced choices women are pushed to make.
Intersectionality Focus
Women’s experiences are shaped by caste, class, disability, and other forms of marginalization. We ensure marginalized groups are meaningfully included.
Prevention & Response
We prioritize both prevention and response, promoting rural voices and supporting solutions from the grassroots.
● Meet the Team
Our team blends grassroots insight with research-driven strategy to build practical solutions. We bring together a growing network of people and organisations, in India and beyond.
